This client asked us to evaluate three key screens from the user experience of their web application and offer suggestions to improve general ease of use. They also asked us to come up with several concepts for a new visual design that would be branded by their customers. These were delivered as Photoshop mockups.

BEFORE
The overall layout is sound, but it looks dirty and could use refinement. The users are serving customers at registration desks and are highly interrupt-driven.

AFTER
By making the sections of the user experience more diverse and recognizable, users of this web application can more readily distinguish them.
Notice that the number of items per page has increased and the last name filtering controls are now repeated at the top, where users first think about narrowing the data down to a manageable set.
