This desktop application had grown to the point where it became complex and difficult to use. Our client asked us to make as many improvements as possible without changing the underlying code. Redesigned the user experience for seven key screens over the span of two weeks-the client was so pleased that they asked us to work on three additional products.

The navigation and primary functions are mixed up in the stack of buttons on the right, and the flow is not obvious-the controls to navigate among entries are interspersed with the controls to edit the entry.
The navigation of this desktop application has been consolidated and presented clearly on the left where users expect to see it.
The primary functions of this user interface are now grouped at the top and bottom, so that the flow is now clear.
BEFORE and AFTER
The reporting dialog had been a hub that launched many small popup windows, with no clear flow or way to proceed.
The new user interface is a single window of clearly defined choices with an obvious way to proceed.
